PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove an additive added at the time of granulating a toner to such a degree that problem is not practically caused by dispersing washed colored fine particles in an electric insulating liq. medium. SOLUTION: Colored fine particles (toner particles) are produced, washed and dispersed in a liq. medium (liq. carrier). The toner particles have about 0.1-10μm, preferably about 0.5-5μm volume average particle diameter and are produced by a wet granulating method. The produced toner particles are washed with water and further washed with an electric insulating liq. usable as the liq. carrier of a liq. developer. The washed toner particles, together with an electric charge controlling agent added to the washing liq., are dispersed in the liq. carrier to obtain the objective liq. developer. This dispersion is carried out by stirring with an ultrasonic dispersing machine or a stirrer if necessary.
