PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain the parallel and fast coverage arithmetic processing in an anti-aliasing processing mode. SOLUTION: The edge function of each of sub-pixels forming a pixel can be described in a base edge function part Bef related to the pixel coordinates and a sub-edge function part Sef related to the sub-pixel reference value. Then the value obtained by adding both parts Bef and Sef together is substituted as an evaluation function LineIO check variable to decide an upper or lower position of an edge or a certain position set on an edge line where the sub-pixels exist. The function Sef has the value that is significantly smaller than the function Bef. Thus, it's possible to effectively design an LSI having the coverage arithmetic capability equivalent to plural Sef arithmetic units of small scales in a small scale area by preparing these Sef arithmetic units against a single Bef arithmetic unit.
