PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound useful as a thickening and gelling agent for a fluid organic material such as an oil. SOLUTION: This cyclophexanetricarboxamide derivative is a compound of the formula (R is a 4-20C alkyl; R' is H or a 1-4C alkyl), e.g. cis-1,3,5-tris(hexylaminocarbonyl)cyclohexane. The compound of the formula is obtained by changing a corresponding 1,3,5-cyclohexanetricarboxylic acid having stereoregularity into an acid chloride by using thionyl chloride, and further reacting the acid chloride with an alkylamine. A fluid organic material is thickened and gelled by mixing the compound of the formula with the fluid organic material, heating to dissolve each other, and cooling the dissolved mixture. Further, the compound of the formula can stabilize a composition containing the fluid organic material by thickening and gelling the composition. |
