PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To evaluate the performance of an oxygen sensor for detecting the deterioration of a catalyst. SOLUTION: A gas containing oxygen, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen introduced from a gas introduction tube 11 is preheated by a preheater 13, furthermore, is heated by an infrared oven 15, is mixed with methane being fed from methane introduction tubes 23 and 23, and becomes a sample gas with a specific composition. The sample gas contacts the detection electrode of an oxygen sensor 25 being heated to a specific temperature by a heater 25b, advances forward a tube 31 for delivery, contacts a UEGO sensor 33, and is released into the air. Using an oxygen sensor evaluation device 10, the relationship between the surface temperature (chip temperature) of the detection electrode and a sensor output is obtained, thus evaluating whether the oxygen sensor evaluation device 10 can be used as the oxygen sensor for CNG engine actually or not. |
