<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a plate of case hardening steel having carburizing characteristic equal to that of rimmed steel by means of a continuous casting process. SOLUTION: This carburizing steel plate has a composition consisting of, by weight, 0.01-0.30% C, <=0.40% Si, 0.1-1.2% Mn, <=0.025% P, <=0.030% S, <=0.005% Mg, <=50 ppm T.O., <=0.005% Al, <=80 ppm N, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. This steel plate can be obtained by carring out, in a manufacturing method where a steel refined in a converter is deoxidized and cast continuously and the resultant continuously cast slab is hot-rolled, deoxidizing treatment by using metallic Mg at the time of the deoxidizing treatment.</p> |
