PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small sized printer capable of effectively printing on a pipe-shaped article. SOLUTION: This printer comprises a pipe-shaped article supporting mechanism (air chuck 11 and the like) that restricts movement of a pipe-shaped article P in a direction of an axis thereof and a direction perpendicular thereto and rotatably supports the pipe-shaped article P around a shaft, a pipe-shaped article rotating mechanism (rotating shaft 31 and the like) that is connected to one end of the pipe-shaped article P supported by the pipe-shaped article supporting mechanism and drives to rotate the pipe-shaped article P around the shaft, a print head moving mechanism (bracket 65 and the like) that moves a print head 52 in parallel to the axis of the pipe-shaped article P in proximity therewith and a print head positioning mechanism that positions the print head 52 on a predetermined printing position. Printing is performed on a circumference of the pipe-shaped article P by positioning the print head 52 on the printing position by means of the print head positioning mechanism and by rotating it by means of the pipe-shaped article rotating mechanism. The printing is performed at a predetermined interval in the axis direction of the pipe-shaped article.
