FIELD: agriculture, in particular, hopgrowing. SUBSTANCE: method involves holding preliminarily bound hop vine and feeding to combing zone, with hop vine being flattened to size equal to that of combing zone gap; advancing hop vine and simultaneously stretching it along stalk in horizontal plane; moving hop vine away relative to advancement direction at inlet and discharge ends of combing zone; upon combing, separating hop strobila from contaminants. Hop combing machine has feeder 1 with vine holding device 2, combing unit, additional combing unit, separation unit 32 and intermediate conveyors 23, system 3 for spatial orientation of hop vine in combing zone, arched receiving unit 4 disposed upstream of hop vine inlet end of combing zone, hop vine formation unit having guides 5 and 6 and discharge auger positioned downstream of combing zone. Combing unit has upper and lower conveyors 9 and 11 with combing members 12. Each conveyor is mounted on individual frame 8 or 10, respectively. Working gap adjusting mechanism positioned between conveyors 9 and 11 is made in the form of two screw pairs 15 arranged at both sides of horizontal conveyors 9 and 11 and interconnected through synchronizing circuit 16, and is further provided with row of drums 17 with combing members 18 engageable one with another and with combing members 20 of immovable casing 19 and intermediate feeding conveyor 23. Additional combing unit is pivotally attached on individual frame 21 so that it may be adjusted relative to intermediate feeding conveyor 23 and screen of separator 22 by means of screw mechanism 24.
