PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a watertight insulated electric wire practically usable at a much higher temperature and improve the corrosion resistance of conductors by filling a polyethylene watertight compound mainly made of a polyethylene resin having a density in a specific range and a melt index of a specific value or above around the twisted conductors. SOLUTION: This watertight insulated electric wire is constituted of twisted conductors 1, a watertight compound 2, and a watertight bridged polyethylene insulating layer 3. A polyethylene watertight compound mainly made of a polyethylene resin having a density of 0.870-0.910 and a melt index of 20 or above is used for the watertight compound. The maleic anhydride graft polyethylene grafted with maleic anhydride of 0.05 wt.% or above or a resin blended with polyethylene and the maleic anhydride graft polyethylene is used for the polyethylene resin. The airtightness, heat-resistant dripping property, and conductor corrosion-resistance can be improved. |
