<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely reduce power consumption while suppressing the degradation of use environment at a computer, etc. SOLUTION: While using a reference signal generator with which the frequency of system clock can be continuously changed, CPU ability is controlled by a control software. Namely, first of all, a CPU busy radio is detected (S10), and it is discriminated based on the result whether the CPU ability is lacked, excessive or proper (S12). When the CPU ability is lacked, it is instructed to increase the system clock frequency at a prescribed change rate (S14) and when the CPU ability is excessive, it is instructed to decrease that frequency (S16). Afterwards, processing is returned to the step S10 after the lapse of time corresponding to the prescribed unit change amount of clock frequency (S18 and S20). When the CPU ability is discriminated proper, processing is returned to the step S10 as it is. Through such a change of clock frequency, the CPU ability is adjusted within a prescribed range proper for requested work contents.</p> |
