<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extremely simplify an encoding process and to improve compression efficiency by encoding the pixel data of current scanning line while using the pixels of scanning lines immediately before and immediately after the current scanning line. SOLUTION: A scanning analyzer 1 analyzes the current scanning line in the prescribed frame of the inputted image while utilizing the exclusive OR of a current scanning line to the pixels of scanning lines immediately before and immediately after the relevant line. Then, the information of scanning lines immediately before and immediately after the current scanning lines, pixel values selected in the operation of exclusive OR and pixel values (exception information) dropped out of exclusive OR opeartion are formed. The scanning lines immediately before and immediately after the current scanning line are analyzed repeatedly by the relevant number of orders. A form encoder 23 encodes the finally formed information of scanning lines immediately before and immediately after the current scanning line and forms the information into the bit stream, and the pixels selected in and dropped out of the exclusive OR operation generated in respective orders are immediately joined into the bit stream.</p> |
