摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an MIM type nonlinear element which has a large nonlinearlity coefficient showing the steepness of voltage-current characteristics and a liquid crystal panel of high picture quality using the element, and to provide the manufacture of the said MIM type nonlinear element. SOLUTION: The MIN type nonlinear element includes a 1st conductive film 22, an insulating film 24, and a 2nd conductive film 26 laminated on a substrate 30, and the insulating film 24 contains water and has a peak, resulting from the water, between 225 and 300 deg.C in a thermal desorption spectrum. In the thermal desorption spectrum, the number of molecules calculated from the area of the peak originating from the water is preferably >=5×10<14> pieces/cm<2> .</p>
