The bicycle wheel rim consists of a hollow body (2) with outer (6) and inner (5) webs. The webs are drilled with holes of different sizes to receive cylindrical inserts for the wheel spoke tensioning nuts (21). The inserts can be threaded at their outer ends to engage with threads cut in the outer web holes. They can fix into place by means of claws on their outer surfaces.
