PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head permitting to decrease a side erase width and attenuate noise by increasing an angle of a track width limiting groove. SOLUTION: This magnetic head has magnetic cores composed of a magnetic material so that a gap 13 with a fixed azimuth angleθis formed at an end of a contact face to be in contact with a magnetic recording medium. The above gap 13 is provided between side edges of the magnetic cores and is restricted on the side edges so as to have a fixed gap length by track width restricting grooves 15, 16 diagonally extending from the side edge. Moreover, central angles 18, 19 or the track width restricting grooves on both side edges of the above magnetic cores are tilted in an opposite direction to the azimuth angleθwith respect to a perpendicular 13a to the gap 13.
