METHOD AND DEVICE FOR ASSEMBLING FLAT PANEL DISPLAY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the method and device for assembly which can assemble a flat display panel without flawing its glass substrate. SOLUTION: On the top surface of an array substrate 60, a seal material 64 is provided surrounding a display area, in which spacers 66 are provided. The array substrate 60 and a counter substrate 62 are sucked onto stages 20 and 18 and arranged opposite each other. One stage has a recessed place 26 opposite an effective area of the counter substrate 62. The recessed place is evacuated to bend the effective area of the counter substrate 62 away from the effective area of the array substrate 60 and in this state, the peripheral edge parts of the array substrate 60 and counter substrate 62 are stuck together across a seal material 64. After the counter substrate 62 is positioned on the array substrate 60 by an X-Y-Θstage, the bending of the counter substrate 62 is removed and the display areas of the counter substrate 62 and array substrate 60 are brought into contact with each other across the spacers 66.
