The catch for the door (1) of a vehicle has a handle (9) and an actuating linkage (7) with at least one horizontal section (13,15). It has a lever (19) mounted for rotation on the door of the vehicle around a horizontal axis which is perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the linkage. A first arm of the lever is connected to the linkage and a second arm of the lever carries an inertial mass (39) to dampen the movement of the linkage under an impact force and prevent undesired jamming of the door. |
