摘要 The buried object detection device is composed of a mechanical probe. This probe is used methodically to explore the subsoil with the aid of an hinged arm or other mechanical device capable of displacing the probe in at least three and preferably 6 degrees of freedom. The probe is fitted with a force sensor designed to measure the force applied when the probe is inserted into the ground. The probe also includes a mechanical wave sensor designed to measure the acoustic response of the underground material encountered during penetration. The data collected, spatial position of the probe point, hardness of penetration, acoustic response of the materials met are fed into a processor so as to produce a subsoil map which provides data on the hardness, shape of objects encountered. Data correlation permits discrimination between a stone and a piece of plastic. The probe may be of two types: either linear displacement or linear and rotative displacement. The linear probe(Fig 1) consists of a semi-rigid end pointed rod(1) having an axial force cell(2) between the sensor and the manipulation arm(4). It has also an acoustic sensor(3) at the end opposite to the rod(1) pointed end. The rotative probe(Fig 2) consists of a rod(1) having an helicoidal end, a sensor drive motor(5), an axial force sensor(2) and an acoustic sensor(3).
