The label (10) is made from an adhesive-coated paper and is made with a series of lines (24, 26) of reduced resistance along which the label will tear if any attempt is made to remove it. At least one of the lines of low resistance runs diametrically or parallel to the diameter of the label, e.g. on either side of a tongue, and a series of other lines can run perpendicular to the diametrical lines or radially. Some of the lines can be perforated, while others are continuous.
