The method for determining the mass of an object (1) includes the fooling stages: - a predetermined gas flow (2) is set up, in a flow direction (3) along a reference direction (4) which includes a vertical component; - a movable container (5), which extends over at least a part of the reference direction, is placed in the gas flow which flows around the objects periphery. The container holds the liquid whose mass is to be determined; - the gas (2) pressure is varied so that the container moves form a rest position to a position in which it is uniquely supported and guided by the gas flow. A parameter is measured, which represents the mass of the container and liquid.
