PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite type thin film magnetic head which is capable of recording/reproducing on an ultra narrow track and has an easy manufacture process and high magnetic flux efficiency and has thin film thickens as track width capable of corresponding to high track density/high linear recording density. SOLUTION: A recording/reproducing composite type magnetic head having a magneto-resistive element as a recording/reproducing core is constructed by allowing track cores 1a, 1b having the film thickness with a diameter of <=50μm as the track width to be adjacent having a gap interval of <=50μm. Coating type film forming material having a high bury-in property is made to flow into the gap machined to the width of <=0.5μm without an azimuth angle for the track width to be cured by a convergent ion beam. The track cores 1a, 1b of a recording/reproducing element part and back cores 4a, 4b are formed from the sam material, and a electrode and a leader conductor 6 of a reproducing element part and a pillar coil 7b and an upper layer coil 7c of a recording element part are constituted of the same conductive material, and all or a part of the components of these same material recording/reproducing element part are laminated and formed to the same height from a head substrate 8.
