The band (1) is guided in its plane perpendicular to its longitudinal axis from a machine (2) in a lateral guide. The guide has adjustment device (3) comprising a movable part. A press (4) comprises a support (40) able to be supported on the band edge (1a). The press has a connection (42) with a significant dimension in the band axis direction and has one end fixed to the support. A device (43) for transmitting movement of the adjuster to the support is constituted by engaging two components. The first component is fixed to the support by one end and the other component is fixed to the connector by one end.
