PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a quantitative analyzing method for obtaining, accurately and directly, carbonate content in a positive-pole active material for non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery. SOLUTION: A positive-pole active material is put in a hydrochloric acid acidic solution, and a carbon dioxide generated by decomposition of the positive- pole active material is determined to obtain the weight of carbonate. The carbon dioxide generated by decomposition is treated with hydrochloric acid trap, and then it is introduced into alkaline barium perchlorate solution, and is absorbed by such reaction as equation: Ba<2+> +20H<-> +CO2 →BaCO3 ↓+H2 O. Based on the amount of generated perchlorate, a quantity of electricity (coulomb) is obtained by coulometric titration, and carbonate weight is obtained by the following equation: m ×quantity of electricity/F. Where, F is Faraday constant, m is mole weight of carbonate. |
