PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize the infrared signal transmission system in which the operability in the case of using an external monitor is improved by a comparatively simple method by allowing an infrared signal transmitter to directly conduct control operations of a TV monitor that include power on/off operation and input changeover operations. SOLUTION: The infrared signal transmission system is made up of an infrared signal transmitter such as a video camera having a VTR that records/ reproduces a video signal and an audio signal and having an infrared emission section 4 that converts the video signal and the audio signal reproduced by the VTR into an infrared signal and transmits the signal in a prescribed direction, and up of a monitor having an infrared AV signal receiving section that receives the infrared signal transmitted from the transmitter and having a display section that displays the received signal. The infrared signal transmitter is provided with a TV monitor remote control signal generating section 6 that generates a control signal to the monitor and the infrared emission section 4 transmits the control signal generated by the TV monitor remote control signal generating section 6 to the monitor.
