PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the time and labor to a convent an word into a word, which is not registered in a dictionary, by retrieving a word corresponding to data inputted in KANA (Japanese syllabary) and displaying it, and selecting objective KANJI one by one out of displayed words if the corresponding word is not present among displayed words. SOLUTION: A KANJI selecting device 106 performs retrieval 109 of KANA data from a dictionary 110. The dictionary 110 is composed of a word dictionary 111 and a single-KANJI dictionary 112 wherein KANJI possibly included in a converted word is registered one by one. For retrieval from the single-KANJI dictionary 112, inputted KANA is compared with KANA of KANA data and KANJI N is displayed from KANJI 1 of KANJI data having a match between them. A retrieval result 108 is passed to an output interface 104 of application 103 and displayed on an output device 101. A user selects a corresponding word or KANJI out of output results, character by character, and holds it in a selection result holding area 107. |
