PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to efficiently input a character string by displaying more predicted candidates and making it easy to obtain a character string that a user intends to have. SOLUTION: When a character string to be predicted is inputted, a dictionary retrieval part 106 retrieves a character string having the input character string at its head part as a predicted character string from a word dictionary 108. Here, when the predicted character string is a reading character string, a character string display part 109 divides the predicted character string into partial character strings as readings in KANJI (Chinese character) units, and displays them as candidates for the predicted character string. Thus, part of the predicted character string is displayed to display more predicted candidates, and consequently it is made easy to obtain the character that the user intends, so that the character string can be inputted with a good efficiency. |
