摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the use efficiency of light source light by projecting light which is made incident in the normal direction of a 1st light projection surface by a 1st photoconductor while transmitting the light through a 2nd photoconductor. SOLUTION: A light guide body 54 is so arranged that its observer-side boundary surface 53 (2nd light projection surface) slants to the boundary surface 58 (1st light projection surface) on the side of a liquid crystal cell 10. Namely, the light guide body 54 is formed so that the section perpendicular to the length wise direction of a light source 26 is in a wedgelike shape. The light guide body 54 has the boundary surface 58 formed at right angles to the incidence surface 55, and projects the light from the light source 26 on a liquid crystal cell 10 and receives reflected light from it. The boundary surface 53, on the other hand, reflects the light from the light source 26 on the boundary surface 58 and also projects the reflected light from the liquid crystal cell 10 on the observer side. An anisotropic scattering plate 51 laminated outside the boundary surface 58 of the light guide body 54 scatters only light projected by the light guide body 54 within a specific angle range and transmits other light so as to increase components made incident on the liquid crystal 10 perpendicularly.
