The invention concerns the use of substances which activate lipolysis having the specific property to stimulate protein G activity. Said cell membrane proteins have a switching role in transmitting the signal from outside into the cell. In adipocytes they activate lipolysis. Their stimulation by substances such as GDP (guanosine diphosphate) or GTP gamma S (guanosine 5'-[ gamma -thio] triphosphate) or Gpp[NH]p (5'guanylylimidodiphosphate) and by plant extracts, obtained from plants selected inter alia among the genus Armeniacea, Atractylodis, Sinomenum, Bupleurum, Pharbitidis and Coleus, can be used in cosmetics. The use of these substances and plant extracts is novel. The extracts are obtained preferably by hydroglycolitic or alcoholic maceration. They are useful for preparing cosmetic and dermopharmaceutical compositions for their slimming and toning properties. |
