<p>A method of encoding dynamic image data based upon the vector quantization, which can improve the quality of still images. A CPU (23) divides image data that are to be encoded into a plurality of block data, and determines the blocks to be encoded based upon the evaluated difference between the block data constituting the image data to be encoded and the corresponding block data of reference image data to be encoded. An encoder circuit (32) encodes the determined blocks to be encoded by using candidate data. The CPU (23) judges whether there is a margin in the transfer of data. When it is judged that there still remains a margin, the block data of image data to be encoded other than the blocks to be encoded are transmitted together with the block ID from the transfer control unit (31).</p> |
