The buffer has a sealing strip (8) running around the edge of the door or door opening. The sealing strip for the required buffering effect locally in an area can be adjusted in height (14). The strip can have a high resistance to deformation or its hollow interior can be filled with a deformable medium in an area. Its height is set by adjusting the position of the base of an adjuster plate (23) with closer strip (5.2) having a projecting lug (9) on to which the sealing strip tightly fits.
