VARIABLE TENSION LANCE SUPPORT

Linked bridge lance segments (52) support a flexible lance (30). In one configuration, the linked bridge lance segments are set in a low tension state so that they can be easily moved through a lance guide. In another configuration, the linked bridge lance segments are set in a high tension state so that they can support the flexible lance accross a large gap region. The high tension state also provides strength to withstand a compressive load caused by pressurized water exiting the flexible lance.
