摘要 Hard disk drive motor of internal rotor type. The internal rotor (17, 18) and disk hub (14) are fixed to either end of a spindle shaft (16), which runs in a bearing tube (24) formed integrally with a base plate (10). This assembly is claimed to have lower inertia and higher rigidity than conventional arrangements, and is thus responsible for the claimed advantages. The base plate also acts to separate the motor assembly from the clean chamber enclosing the disk(s), which is defined by base plate (10) and cover (12). Disk(s) (30) and motor are enclosed in separate clean enclosures to prevent motor debris coming in contact with the disk(s). A seal (34) acts to prevent debris from bearings (18, 20) from entering the disk enclosure. Disk(s) are ferromagnetically shielded from motor magnetic field by a plate (21). Control circuitry is on PCB (not shown) mounted under base. Contacts between coils and PCB are made with spring-loaded pins (38). Object: to reduce inertia and thus reduce spin-up time/increase acceleration and to improve rigidity of spindle to reduce run-out and vibration.
