The heating mat is made in required sizes and shapes and has a foam base layer (3) on to which are applied the electric foil heating elements (2) which are covered by protective metal layers (4). The edges of the metal layers are sealed by metal strips (6). The whole construction is secured by adhesive and has electric power cords attached to connect to the supply. The separate heating elements in a mat, or in several mats, are connected to the electric supply singly or together. The protective layer prevents damage from shoes.
