Compression pressure regulation method for piston engine

The compression pressure regulation method provides a target pressure for at least one engine cylinder, via adjustment of the compression ratio and/or shifting the fuel injection and/or controlling the opening cross-section of a variable turbine in a turbocharger for supplying the combustion air to the engine. The momentary pressure for a defined engine operating point is provided, with read-out of the corresponding maximal pressure from a characteristic field, for identifying the momentary pressure as the target pressure when the difference between the momentary pressure and the maximal pressure is less than a limit value.
