The video viewer (1) has a video camera (2), a data input field (7), a weapon guidance processor (3), a video monitor (4) with an eyepiece (5) and a battery (6) for providing the electrical operating energy. A weapon sights cross-wire and/or text and symbols can be generated and inserted in the video image displayed via the monitor via a video signal mixer (15), with the elevation and azimuth angles for firing the weapon calculated by tracking the target via the weapon sights cross-wire. Uses two CCD-chips arranged, one above the other over a beam-splitter prism (8) for doubling the range for the sight angle.
