The protector consists of an elongated blade shaped element (1) to guard lips against UV rays and fitted to one side with a fixer (11) to hold the protector to the mouth. The opposite ends of the element (1) should be tapered to conform with the lip contours and the element is radiused to adapt to the rounded parts of the lips or is simply flexible in these lip areas. The fixing device (11) consists of a plate extension (11) set apart from the protector and ending short of the lengthways ends (1) of the protector and thus serving to hold the element to the mouth opening. This fixer extension (11) is offset from the top rim of the protector to lie flush with the protector ends. The fixer (11) can be bitten by the teeth and in this way permanently adapted to the tooth structure of the wearer. The free end of the fixer (11) has a shouldered area to grasp the wearer's teeth from behind in use and the fixer is adhered to the upper lip by adhesive applied to the inside of the element (1) leaving the protector part covering the bottom lip free of adhesive between its two longways ends. The protector is made in one piece of UV-filtering plastics.
