A catheter provided with an obstacle sensing mechanism which enables an increase in touch pressure level to be recognized without fail. The catheter detects a touch pressure of a sensor section (3) provided at the tip of a catheter tube (2) with a pressure sensor (10) provided in the sensor section (3). As a result, the presence or absence of an obstacle (28) on a forward side in a proceeding direction of the catheter is sensed on the basis of a sensor output signal (SS1) from the pressure sensor (10). A change of the sensor output signal (SS1) is converted to a sound by a means (45) for making signals audible.
