Cast-iron type cylinder runner sleeve with carbon oil-scraper ring esp for diesel combustion engine

The carbon control ring (9) is fitted into the top of the cylinder sleeve of the IC engine to cover the TDC position of the piston crown. It is fitted into the prepared groove on the inside of the sleeve by a cold press operation. A thicker ring than required is fitted to ensure sufficient strength for the fitting. The inside diameter of the ring is turned down to the required bore before fitting into the cylinder block. The shallow recess has a groove (15) into which the material of the ring is pressed to ensure a good grip. The final thickness (10) of the ring is less than 2 percent of the cylinder diameter (D).
