Folding roof for road vehicle

The roof (11) for a road vehicle is designed to fold down out of sight, behind the seats. When it is raised, the front edge of the roof engages with the top of the windscreen frame, and the roof consists of a rigid front element (14), centre element (10) and rear element (12), mounted on folding side frames (15) and raised and lowered by a linkage (24,26) connected to an actuator (64). The front and middle portions fit over the rear portion of the roof in a compartment (92) behind the seats. There is a lid (94) which closes this compartment when the roof is folded. It covers the compartment when the roof is in the raised position.
