Sheet brake apparatus for use in a printing press

The apparatus has a number of sheet brake units arranged movably on a cross-guide member (9), which is in turn movable on guide carriages in or counter to the feed direction (3) of the printed material. A toothed rod (10) is arranged parallel to the guide cross-member and a drive motor (13) and drive block controller are associated with each sheet brake, with each drive block (12) having a pinion (11) meshed with the toothed rod. The apparatus is covered with a housing (8) which has a downstream opening with a flexible felt or foam seal (15), running transverse to the sheet feed direction, through which the parts of each sheet brake within the housing are connected to the parts acting on the sheet material prior to its deposition on the delivery pile. The housing is releasably fixed on both side to the guide carriage.
