POLYESTER-BASE ANTISTATIC AGENT AND POLYMER COMPOSITION CONTAINING THE SAME

An antistatic agent comprising as the active ingredient a polyester which is synthesized by the polycondensation of (a) a polycarboxylic acid ingredient with (b) a polyhydric alcohol ingredient comprising a hindered polyhydric alcohol and at least one alkylene glycol condensate selected from the group consisting of oligooxyethylene glycols and polyoxyalkylene glycols, and which has a weight-average molecular weight (Mw) of 1,000 to 500,000. The antistatic agent is used in combination with a resinous or rubbery polymer such as polypropylene or an ethylene/propylene copolymer to improve the antistatic properties of the polymer.
