<p>A particulate ceramic material containing at least 75% by weight of a non-fibrous ceramic shot material is used to make fire seals, fire barrier products and mortars. The fire-resistant mortars are particularly suitable for the preparation of light weight load-bearing slabs, for example flooring slabs or ceilings, and in the preparation of panels for use in the construction of ceilings and walls.
