The machine framework (2) has devices mounted on it for gathering cut pieces of the crops being harvested. Two spaced apart drive wheels (4, 6) are present, each coupled to the same drive motor (16) and extending in a plane transverse to the machine framework. Slides (8a-8d) on the front of the machine act as guides for the machine by gripping the crop roots. The outwards pointing shaft from the motor is coupled with the inwards projecting shaft from a gear system. Both of the shafts (26, 28) pointing out of the motor are coupled to a drive wheel.
