[Also in Division E2] Shears and the like have a pivot assembly comprising an elongate pivot pin 15 secured to a blade 11, said pin 15 extending through and being radially spaced, by bushes 18, 19, from an elongate sleeve 17 secured to the other blade 10. The end of the pin 15 remote from the blades has a boss 22 non-rotatably secured thereto and spaced from the sleeve 17 to receive therebetween a rectangular section helical spring 24, to maintain pressure between said blades. The bearing surfaces provided by the bushes 18, 19 have an axial length which is a multiple of the thickness of the blade to which the sleeve is attached. A pair of handles 12, 13 are respectively releasably attached to cylindrical extensions of the sleeve 17 and the boss 22 by means of a peg 33 resiliently outwardly biased in said extensions, by a rubber bush 24, for engagement with an aperture in one end of the handles 12, 13. The relative position of the handles 12, 13 in the closed position is adjustable by way of a bolt 21 threaded into one extension and the head portion being in abutment with the other extension.
