For supporting a design work of designing a cooling unit comprising a set of components and a plurality of pipes connecting the components, a design work support system (1) has a component attribute database (13A) for memorizing at least one kind of component attribute information for each of the components and a pipe design rule database (13B) for memorizing pipe design rules for said pipes. An input is carried out about design conditions relating to a desired design of the cooling unit.
