PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new probe including a DNA fragment derived from Streptococcus pyogenes microbe, which is a pathogen of an infectious disease, specifically forming a hybrid with a DNA of the microbe and used for diagnosing the infectious disease such as pharyngitis caused by the microbe. SOLUTION: This new probe for diagnosing an infectious disease includes a DNA fragment capable of being obtained by treating the DNA of Streptococcus pyogenes microbe, which is a pathogen of an infectious disease, with a restriction enzyme Hind III, can specifically form a hybrid with the DNA included in the Streptococcus pyogenes microbe and is represented by formulae I and II. The probe is useful for detection and identification of the Streptococcus pyogenes microbe, which is a pathogen of pharyngitis, rheumatic fever, nephritis, erysipelas, scarlatina, septicemia, etc. The probe is obtained by extracting a chromosome DNA from the Streptococcus pyogenes microbe, allowing the extracted chromosome DNA to be completely digested by a restriction enzyme Hind III, cloning the digested DNA and selecting a fragment manifesting a specific reactivity with the DNA of the before microbe. |
