PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the water resistance of a record and the dispersibility of carbon black. SOLUTION: The dispersibility of carbon black is improved by converting a compound represented by the formula P-[X-Y-Z-N(R<1> )(R<2> )]n [P denotes an organic coloring matter residue or a heterocyclic residue; X denotes a bivalent binding group composed of a chemically reasonable combination comprising 2-15 atoms selected from S, C, N, O and H; Y denotes a direct bond or N(R) (R denotes H or a 1-18C alkyl group or Z-N(R')R<2> ) or O; Z denotes a 1-6C alkylene group; R<1> and R<2> denote each independently a 1-18C alkyl group which may be substituted or R<1> and R<2> together may form a heterocyclic ring which may contain N, O or S and may be substituted; (n) denotes an integer of 1-3] into an aqueous solution of various mineral acids or various organic solvents, adding the resultant aqueous solution into an aqueous slurry of the carbon black, stirring the resultant mixture, thereby adsorbing the compound onto the surface of the carbon black, then reinsolubilizing the compound with ammonia, various organic amines or hydroxides, etc., of alkali metals after the adsorption and providing a treated pigment. |
