PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an Fe-contg. copper alloy material excellent in press workability and bending workability by specifying the range of crystal grains in the sheet width direction on the rolled surface of a copper alloy having a specified compsn. and the ratio of crystal grains lying in the range to all crystal grains. SOLUTION: This copper alloy is the one having a compsn. contg., by weight, 0.2 to 4% Fe, in which Fe or/and Fe base intermetallic compounds are precipitated, and the balance Cu with inevitable impurities. The intermetallic compounds are stably formed as Fe-P, Fe-Si and Fe-Ti and precipitate into Cu mother phases to improve the proof stress and heat resistance of the copper alloy. Then, the average grain size in the sheet width direction measured in the rolled face is regulated to 3 to 60μm, and the number of crystal grains having dimensions of 80 to 120% to the value is regulated to >=70% (>=70% grading degree). For forming such graded structure, it is required that rapid heating is executed prior to aging treatment. It is preferable that its temp. is raised to the temp. range of 450 to 950 deg.C at a rate of >=0.1 deg.C/sec and it is held to the temp. for 5 sec to 10 min and is recrystallized.
