PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a protective liner capable of making the life of a throat further longer by suspending the hook part of aΓshape at the top end of a planar member covering the furnace inner side of a stave to the top end face of this stave, mounting a pulling means at one end of this planar member and fixing the pulling means by the outer flank of a shell. SOLUTION: The protective liner 7 consists of the planar member covering the surface on the furnace inner side of the stave 9 as a main component. The top end of the protective liner 7 is bent to theΓshape and is formed to the hook part 10 which is then suspended to the top end of the stave 9. The central part in the transverse direction of the protective liner 7 is provided with the pulling means 11 for pulling the same toward the furnace outer side and detaining the same to the shell 1. Further, the similar pulling means 11 is mounted at the top end of the hook part 10 as well. This pulling means 11 is housed into a heat resistant cylinder 12 so as to shut off the heat from high- tap. gases. The protective liner 7 is securely supported at the higher temp. than heretofore and the durability is increased by such structure.
