PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high quality image in which a stabilized quantity of toner flies without being scattered to form a dot uniformly. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises a member 31 for supporting a medium recording an image at a position facing a body 10 for carrying toner 12 containing a magnetic material, and a control electrode 20 disposed between the carrying body 10 and the supporting body 31 and provided with a plurality of gates 24 for passing the toner 24. Quantity of the toner 12 passing through the gate is controlled by an electric field generated on the control electrode 20 and an image is formed on a recording medium 8 being carried between the control electrode 20 and the supporting body 31. The carrying body 10 caries the toner 12 without relying on the magnetic action and the supporting body 31, provided with means 30 for generating a magnetic force at a position facing the control electrode 20, acts to attract the toner 20. |
