PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recorder capable of preventing clogging in a gutter due to sticking of ink, of reducing a print head in size and of improving a maintenance property. SOLUTION: In an ink jet recorder, a gutter unit 7 is constituted of a gutter 6 for collecting ink drops not used in the printing, a gutter base for holding the gutter 6 and a check valve 8 provided in the gutter base. A downstream side of the gutter 6 is communicated to the check valve 8 and a downstream side of the check valve 8 is communicated to a collection passage 11 of ink. The check valve 8 is so constituted that it normally closes the collection passage 11 and opens it when the suction force is applied thereto by a collection pump 12b for the ink. As a result, it is possible to prevent clogging in the gutter 6 due to sticking of the ink, to reduce a print head in size and to improve a maintenance property. |
