PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an enough mechanical strength even when the barrier is made thinner by providing a reinforcing part on each corner part of penetration paths existing in the outside region of a region contg. the center in the vertical plane to the penetration paths in a ceramic honeycomb structure with a number of penetration paths surrounded with barriers. SOLUTION: In a vertical plane of penetration paths 3, shapes of the penetration paths 3 existing in the first region 4 contg. the center are made square and shapes of the penetration paths 3 existing in the second region 5 with an annular shape positioned outside of this first region 4 is made square and a shape with reinforcing parts on four corners, pref. a circular arc shape or a thick corner shape of a straight line shape. When the second region 5 is shown by expansion, in the example of the circular arc shape, the shape of the penetration path 3 is made a square shape in the plane vertical to the penetration path 3 and four corner parts 3a being intersecting parts of the planes forming the square shape are made circular arc shape with a curvature radius R.
